From June to August 2022, Alison worked with Art Works Hall Green to deliver Our Familes, Our Journey, a project exploring family, home and history with families in Balsall Heath, Birmingham.We worked with two local schools, Nelson Mandela primary and Conway primary, and community organisation Ashiana Community Partnership. Families and children used collage, applique and drawing to create textile panels all about their favourite places, memories, home and journeys. We had fantastic discussions, shared loads of skills and the work created was really beautiful. We even had the chance to display one of the pieces at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery over the summer!
